Slippery walls, steps coated with a brown or green film, pebbles that feel greasy: that is biofilm. This layer of bacteria, organic matter and micro-algae clings to every surface of the swimming zone and the regeneration zone. It traps deposits, gives algae something to grow on and makes a natural pool unpleasant, and even dangerous on the steps. ↓ View more

How do you remove biofilm from a natural swimming pool?
- Lift: Aquipond Boost & Clean releases active oxygen on contact with biofilm, sludge and string algae. Within a few hours they come loose and rise to the surface.
- Remove: skimmer, fine-mesh net or pond vacuum. Whatever leaves the pool can no longer feed new biofilm.
- Maintain: then seed with Aquipond BactoSwim. The bacteria break down organic matter throughout the season and keep biofilm from coming back.
Boost & Clean is also the answer for regeneration zones, planted filters and lava filters, which cannot be brushed: it lifts deposits and string algae without dismantling anything.
