Description
Aquipond by OASE CyanoClear is a sodium percarbonate granule developed by OASE Professional for natural ponds, lakes, recreational waters and large sites. It releases active oxygen at the water surface, where cyanobacteria gather, raises dissolved oxygen levels and helps the water body return to a balanced state.
Why cyanobacteria appear
Often wrongly called "blue algae", cyanobacteria are micro-organisms that take advantage of an unbalanced water body. They can form green to blue-green films on the surface. Several factors encourage them:
- heat and strong sunlight;
- stagnant or poorly mixed water;
- excess nutrients, especially phosphates and nitrogen;
- low oxygen levels.
Lasting results therefore depend on tackling these causes: circulation and aeration, and reducing phosphorus and organic matter. To bind phosphorus in the water and the sludge, SeDox Max is the natural complement to CyanoClear.
How CyanoClear works
To photosynthesise, cyanobacteria concentrate in the upper layer of the water. Spread on the surface, CyanoClear granules gradually release hydrogen peroxide there – in other words, active oxygen. This then breaks down naturally into water and oxygen, leaving no persistent residues, while raising the oxygen content of the water.
